  • East Winds Saint Lucia Destination Wedding Photography | Carly & Josh

Sometimes I’m lucky enough to photograph a wedding for friends of mine. Sometimes I’m even luckier because those friends decide to get married in a tropical paradise in the Caribbean. But Carly and Josh are the luckiest of all, because not only did they find the person they want to spend the rest of their lives with, but they even had 40 of their closest friends and family join them all the way in Saint Lucia. Not everybody could get that many people to fly to another country for them, but that just shows you how much these two are loved. Destination weddings are such a magical thing, you get to spend a week laying on the beach, eating way too much food, washing it down with way too many drinks, and you kind of forget to stress over a wedding. East Winds Resort had deep sea fishing, horse back riding along the water, swim up bars, kayaking, paddle boarding, sail boats, pirate ship cruises, street festivals, dancing, late night pool dips, and sooooo much laughing. I’m so grateful that I was able to be a part of this adventure with Carly and Josh, and I’m so happy to share some of the photos with you guys! Wishing you two all the happiness in the world!

  • Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor Wedding | John Henry & Don

I recently traveled to Boston to photograph a wedding for a great friend from college, who was lucky enough to marry the love of his life. John Henry and Don tied the knot in July with a stunning view of the city over the water, at the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor hotel. They said their I-Do’s as the sun went down over the skyline, and then danced the night away with all of their friends and family. One thing that sticks out to me the most from this wedding was the sweet words that Don’s mother spoke at their reception. Parents that are just so genuinely thrilled to see their kids happy, no matter the race or the sex or the circumstance, it’s an absolutely wonderful thing. You could see the genuine excitement in the entire room, especially between John Henry and Don. They literally couldn’t stop smiling or even dancing during our portrait time! I’m so happy I got the opportunity to be a part of their wedding day, and to get to visit Boston again. Love is a beautiful thing.

  • 128 South Downtown Wilmington Wedding Photography | Xan & Joe

I recently had the pleasure of tagging along with Xan and Joe on their wedding day in downtown Wilmington. They had their ceremony out on the back deck at 128 South, which gives a beautiful view of the Cape Fear River and a great view of the city. They had a delicious dinner inside the venue and then made their way out to the deck again to finish up the night with drinks and dancing. They had such a great group of friends and family members, they never left that dance floor the entire night. The decor was gorgeous, the music was great, and the bride looked absolutely stunning (she even did her own hair and makeup – seriously!!). I’m so happy that I get to work with such amazing clients that make me feel like just another one of the guests. Wishing these two a lifetime of happiness!

  • Grand Barn at the Mohicans Wedding Photography | Jenna & Kevin

Jenna and Kevin said “I do” this month in Glenmont, Ohio. They invited me all the way from North Carolina to photograph their wedding, and I couldn’t have been happier to be a part of their day. I’ve known Kevin for YEARS now, we were college buddies, and I actually didn’t even get the pleasure of meeting Jenna until the wedding day, although it didn’t feel that way at all. These two got married at the Mohicans in the Grand Barn Wedding Center. They decorated the place with soft and natural greenery, with pops of white and gold. Their florist decorated the most gorgeous arch for their ceremony, complete with hanging terrariums with succulents and candles inside. The bridesmaid dresses were a nice soft neutral color which paired so nicely with Jenna’s beautiful dress, and Kevin even sprung for this incredible dark green suit – so cool! They had big Edison bulbs lighting their ceremony and reception outdoors on the patio, which made for some of the dreamiest dancing photos. Honestly some of my very favorite first dance photos EVER. We were also able to wander around the woods and hang out at tree houses, which I absolutely loved. They danced, they laughed, they had their siblings and parents make the most perfect speeches – mostly about Kevin taking his shirt off at family functions. I love getting to come hang out with old friends on such an important day, and I love it even more when I get to see how happy they are. Jenna and Kevin, you two are amazing, and I can’t wait to wish you a happy anniversary for years and years and years to come. Now go look at some of these gorgeous pictures!!!

  • Brooklyn Arts Center Wedding Photography | Jordan & Bo

Sometimes you get lucky and you move to a new state and you don’t know a single person and you end up making friends with your photography clients. Sometimes you REALLY luck out and they turn into some of your best friends. That’s what happened with Jordan and Bo. These two are so fun and lighthearted and just an absolute blast to be around. Their love story is sweet, their relationship is so calm and trusting and comfortable, and I really believe they were meant to find each other in this crazy world.

We spent the day laughing and singing and, okay, maybe sweating a little. Their wedding was held at the Brooklyn Arts Center in downtown Wilmington, in the big beautiful brick building with the tallest ceilings and the most gorgeous architecture. They decorated it and made it their own space, with sweet pops of summer colors. I really love photographing weddings for your close friends, because it doesn’t feel like I’m working at all. I had strict instructions to put my camera away at one point, and I even remember snapping a few after I was done (because I can’t help it and I’m addicted to my camera) and Jordan yelling at me to go get a drink instead. If that doesn’t make you feel right at home, then I don’t know what does! Thank you to both of you for having me capture these memories for years and years to come, I can’t wait to watch you two grow together.

Life is ever changing but I will always
find a constant and comfort in your love
With your heart my soul is bound
And as we dance I know that heaven can be found
