  • Myrtle Beach Wedding Photographer | Caroline & Nick

Planning a wedding during a pandemic and being unsure of what your wedding day will look like is already difficult enough, but when other unforeseen circumstances show up just a couple weeks before the wedding, it makes it even more challenging. Caroline and Nick had to change all their original wedding plans at the last minute, but I can’t stress enough how much I admire them for being able to do so with smiles on their faces. We ended up in Myrtle Beach with only maybe 20 of their immediate family members and their best man and maid of honor. Their love was so intense it had me getting goosebumps throughout the day and had me crying like a little baby during their vows (even when I watched it back in their wedding video) – and I swear I am immune to weddings at this point, but not this day. Every speech that someone made, every word they spoke to each other, every little moment was just so special. These two are absolutely meant to be together, and I’m so glad that they were still able to have this day, even if it looked a little different than they had planned. I’m grateful for my job for bringing me to people like this. You two will always have a friend in me, and I cannot wait to watch your love story continue.

  • Oak Island Elopement Photographer | Olivia & Matthew

This sweet sweet couple had a very intimate wedding in Oak Island that I was lucky enough to show up and photograph! Their love was honestly overwhelming (in a good way), and everyone in the whole room felt it. They were so easy to work with, so much fun to take photos of, and their families made me feel so welcome. Olivia has always loved Peter Pan and there were small little elements of that in their decor, which was so fun and unique. They had MULTIPLE pies on deck, their arbor was decorated by hand with dried flowers and oranges (a tribute to her favorite book), and they had hand packed lunches which was so creative. I love getting to be a part of days like this. Check out some of my favorite images from the day!

  • Wilmington NC Wedding Photographer | Styled Shoot at the River Room

I absolutely love getting to be a part of local styled photo shoots. If you aren’t familiar with them, it’s a day that a bunch of wedding vendors come together to create a faux wedding day – including models for the couple getting “married!” It’s so much fun to get creative and have fun with a photo shoot without having to be on a strict wedding-day timeline, and get to team up with more creative vendors and see what you can do together. So grateful for our coordinator, Addie, for putting this all together!

  • Wilmington NC Wedding Photographer | BEST OF 2020

What a year it’s been. I think we can all agree that 2020 was unlike anything we’ve been used to. We went through a pandemic that changed the world as we know it today. I started out the year pretty normal, photographed a couple weddings in January and February, and they were so much fun. Dancing together late into the night, lots of hugging, buffet style food… receptions were still indoors and you could sit directly next to a stranger. And then here comes March. I left for the UK and Europe on March 3rd. I traveled around London, Amsterdam, and Copenhagen, and was planning to go to Berlin and Prague next. We woke up one morning in Denmark to the news that Trump had passed the travel ban between Europe and the US and we had to get crafty in ways to get home. It took about 48 hours, I almost got stuck in Germany without a passport or a wallet, but we did it, and then the day after landing back in America, the world changed.

Restaurants and bars and stores were shut down, you couldn’t go out into public without a face covering, you needed to carry hand sanitizer with you all the time so you can constantly wash your hands. Weddings went from 150+ gatherings to under 25 people in North Carolina, and all outdoors. Wedding vendors lost countless weddings, or they were postponed to take up popular dates of 2021 that they’ll now lose future business over. A lot of businesses shut down. I thought about shutting down. I just didn’t have any work and every wedding in 2020 was in question. But then after a couple months of quarantine life, something beautiful started happening.

People who had canceled their original wedding plans, decided to let love win. They started planning elopements or tiny little outdoor weddings. I’m so grateful that we live in such a beautiful place, because I know I personally worked a handful of “elopements” for couples who had originally planned destination weddings, and Wilmington made for a pretty amazing Plan B. I’m grateful to all of my clients this year, during my hardest year in business yet. I’m sad that I lost the chance to work with a lot of awesome couples because of this pandemic, but I’m also so happy that I was able to meet a bunch of new couples in their last minute elopement plans. Thank you to every single family who hired me to take your photos at the beach this summer, when I was no longer drowning in wedding photos, I got to take the time to capture their beautiful vacation memories. Photo shoots like that saved me this year. Genuinely. I also got to work with a lot of small businesses and provide them content for their websites, their social medias, and things like that. I really got into real estate photography, as well, and that’s been a lot of fun. While 2020 wasn’t what any of us expected, at least we made it. We’re still here, we’re still standing, and we’ve learned that we can survive through anything. Here’s hoping that 2021 weddings are going to come back to us full force, and if they don’t, let’s let love win anyway.

While 2020 wasn’t my favorite, some of these weddings definitely were. We all went through this together and some of these moments were just absolute magic. Thank you again for letting me be a part of your story.

  • The Barn at Rock Creek Wedding Photographer | Kim & John

I remember the first emails I exchanged with Kim, before we ever met, and I just KNEW she was the perfect bride for me to work with. She’s just the absolute sweetest human I could ever hope for, and when I met up with her and John to discuss their wedding plans – it was clear that these two were meant to be together. As we got ready for their “first look” on their wedding day, the nerves were high and the excitement was even higher. I’ll never get over the way John looks at her! What we thought was going to be a full day of rain, turned out to be just the best day. The rain finished up in the morning, giving us the rest of the day to enjoy their outdoor wedding, while they danced and laughed the night away with their closest family and friends. I will be forever grateful that Kim found me!!!! Now check out some of my very favorite images from their wedding day – and my last wedding of 2020!

  • The Barn at Rock Creek Wedding Photography | Caitlin & Michael

Calling this wedding a blast wouldn’t even begin to describe the night I had with Caitlin and Michael. This was one of the most epic dance parties I’ve ever experienced, including Caitlin being hoisted into the air by her friends multiple times. They had incredible, hand picked details, gorgeous floral centerpieces, one of the most colorful fall ceremonies, and so much love it had me smiling the whole time I worked on these photos. They have such a fun kind of love, you can’t help but want to be around them! They danced, they laughed, and they even let me take them into the woods for some gorgeous photos as the sun set and the super moon came out. I love to be a part of weddings that are filled with so much joy, and this one exceeded all expectations! Congrats to the happy couple, now check out the highlights from their big day!
