  • Bakery 105 Wedding Photographer | Taylor & Greg

Let me just start by saying WOW. First of all, I already love working at Bakery 105 in Downtown Wilmington, North Carolina. Its outdoor patio covered in brick and ivy is a photo dream, and the interior is honestly just as pretty, too. It’s one of my favorite venues, but also, fill it up with a bunch of ridiculously wonderful and fun humans, and it’s EVEN BETTER. I’ve had the pleasure of becoming friends with Taylor and Greg over the last few years, especially when we all got to head to Vegas together last year for our mutual friends wedding (Joe & Dianna in VEGAS! Ya better go look at that one, too). So I was EXTRA thrilled when they asked me to photograph their wedding! These two know how to throw an epic party, and pack a dance floor with a whole lot of non-traditional wedding songs (literal music to my ears). But the absolute best part? Taylor and Greg were just SO HAPPY to marry each other. They both audibly breathed sighs of relief upon doing the first look, and that right there is why I suggest a first look, always. Spending more time with your partner on your wedding day will make you feel instantly more calm and grounded, and excited to promise forever to each other. Anyway, I’ll stop blabbing, but please enjoy these highlights from Taylor & Greg’s wedding day!

  • Carolina Beach Wedding Photographer | Rachel & Bailey

Where do I even begin in describing this epic wedding day? Rachel and Bailey planned a gorgeous outdoor beach ceremony at Carolina Beach, and Wilmington weather had other plans for them. With a wildly rainy May, it tried to quite literally rain on their parade, but Rachel was DETERMINED to have her outdoor beach wedding. And I’m so glad her determination paid off because we had a (mostly) dry ceremony, and even though we got caught in some PRETTY HEAVY rain showers and there was a mad dash back to the hotel, we still managed to get some outdoor time and get some gorgeous photos and most importantly – have the BEST DAY EVER.

Rachel and Bailey have one of those intense kinds of loves where you can walk into a room and just feel it. I couldn’t stop watching them all day, and smiling the whole time. They had a brunch reception – which I just think MORE people should do, brunch food at a wedding AND mimosas AND Bloody Mary bars? Also unlimited coffee? Why isn’t this more common!? Then once the reception was over they had a beach ball exit instead of sparklers, which is now my new favorite thing, and then my absolute favorite part of the whole day happened – we walked down the Carolina Beach boardwalk (to many shouts of congratulations from the locals) and stopped at Britt’s Donuts, and then walked over to the Fat Pelican for some drinks. I love stepping outside of a “typical” wedding day and doing fun things like this, it makes it so much more unique, so much more memorable, and so FUN! We may have gotten caught in yet another rain storm, but nobody cared. What a day, what a couple. I’m so glad I got to be a part of their wedding day, it was totally worth getting soaked for!

  • Slate & Cypress Wedding Photographer | Kyley & Corey

Kyley & Corey chose the beautiful venue, Slate & Cypress, out in Calabash, NC for their wedding day. I had the pleasure of documenting their big day, and let me tell you, this was absolutely one of the most fun days EVER. They had a bunch of fun ideas up their sleeves, and I just absolutely love when my couples are down to have a GREAT TIME, and these two did not let me down. From morning mimosas with the girls, to a staged “first look” with the groomsmen that was ACTUALLY Kyley just “icing” them (if you don’t know what that is, look it up, it’s incredible), to dancing all night long, these two had CONSTANT smiles on their faces and the love in the room was SO loud. It’s hard for me to even pick a favorite part of the day because it was honestly full of surprises and it was so much fun from the beginning of the day all the way until the exit. Thanks for including me in your special day, and trusting me to photograph it, and thank you even more for making me feel like I was just one of the guests. Obsessed with Kyley & Corey and obsessed with this day. Now check out the highlights!!!!

  • Kure Beach Wedding Photographer | Holly & RJ

Holly & RJ got married last weekend on a beautiful May morning, facing the Atlantic Ocean at the pavilion at Kure Beach. Living in coastal North Carolina is pretty incredible, especially when you get to wake up at the beach, get ready for your wedding, and say “I do” to the sound of the crashing waves. I love an intimate wedding, and the relaxation that comes with those kinds of days. Congratulations to Holly & RJ!!!

  • Porter’s Neck Wedding Photographer | Kathy & Mandy

Kathy & Mandy have been together for TWENTY YEARS now. They decided it was finally time to celebrate their love and invite their closest friends and family to join them all together in one place. They have over 20 people come over from Europe, which is a record in my opinion! I met these two for their “engagement” photos (they’ve already been married for awhile!) to get to know them before the big day, and we did their photos in their beautiful home along the water in Porter’s Neck, facing Figure 8 Island. They let me befriend their dogs and share a glass of wine and we exchanged travel stories and I knew that I was going to just LOVE their wedding, and boy was I right. They hired a team of TOP TIER vendors, so I already knew going into the day that it was going to be stunning, but even I underestimated just how stunning it really was. A hanging spring floral chandelier, twinkle lights covering the entire ceiling of the tent, a live band to play music to keep the guests dancing ALL NIGHT (and I mean literally all night). The food was hands down my favorite meal I’ve ever had at a wedding, and the vibes were the best part of all. The guests kept me laughing and enjoying myself all night, and the love for these two humans was felt for miles. They had their day planned out perfectly, and I loved the layout of their day, as it was very non-traditional. They started with a cocktail hour while all the guests arrived and they got to mingle and greet everyone together, followed by a ceremony of just their vows, followed by dinner, and drinks and dancing! I’m so grateful to get to be involved in days like this one, and I wish Kathy & Mandy many many many many more years of happiness together!

  • Brooklyn Arts Center Wedding Photographer | Amanda & Mikey

I have many favorite things about photographing weddings. One, getting to work in such beautiful historic venues like the Brooklyn Arts Center in Downtown Wilmington, North Carolina. It was one of the first venues in Wilmington that I worked in once I moved here, and it will remain one of my favorites as long as I live here. Another thing that I love is when my job brings me to weddings of friends of mine! I’ve known Amanda & Mikey for a couple years now, and I was BEYOND thrilled when they asked me to be part of their big day. Being trusted to capture someone’s wedding day is not something I take lightly, and it almost means MORE when friends want to hire you. It’s also like getting a back stage pass to a wedding. You get to be there for the getting ready moments before the day really starts, you get to spend more time with the couple than most people do on the wedding day. You get to see how all their planning came together and how each little detail falls into place. I am grateful for my job and getting to keep doing this each weekend, especially when it’s with amazing humans like Amanda & Mikey. I absolutely LOVED the way they decorated Brooklyn Arts Center, and they had SUCH a fun crowd dancing the entire night away. Now check out some highlights from their big day!!!

  • Brooklyn Arts Center Wedding Photographer | Lithia & Brendan

Lithia and Brendan were one of those lucky couples (I say lucky in full sarcasm) who had to deal with a postponement in light of the pandemic. We did their engagement photos in 2019 and they were originally going to get married last year, but moved their date to 2021 instead because they wanted to be able to have all their people at their wedding! I’m so grateful that they did, too, because what a day! We had a gorgeous April day of sunshine outside of the Brooklyn Arts Center. BAC is always one of my favorite venues to work in, you just can’t go wrong in that gorgeous old building. It has so much wide open space, you can do pretty much anything you want inside, and the outside courtyard is perfect all on it’s own, too. Lithia is hands down one of my most laid back brides in the world, and I’m so thankful to her for that. She had me cracking up all day, AND she had TWO incredible dresses. Her ceremony dress was made up from her mother and grandmother’s wedding dress, and her reception dress was all her own! This was one of the first weddings that I’ve worked in awhile where it felt almost “normal” again – and it felt GOOD! Cheers to 2021, and to Lithia and Brendan! You guys did it!!!

  • Grand Barn at the Mohicans Wedding Photography | Jenna & Kevin

Jenna and Kevin said “I do” this month in Glenmont, Ohio. They invited me all the way from North Carolina to photograph their wedding, and I couldn’t have been happier to be a part of their day. I’ve known Kevin for YEARS now, we were college buddies, and I actually didn’t even get the pleasure of meeting Jenna until the wedding day, although it didn’t feel that way at all. These two got married at the Mohicans in the Grand Barn Wedding Center. They decorated the place with soft and natural greenery, with pops of white and gold. Their florist decorated the most gorgeous arch for their ceremony, complete with hanging terrariums with succulents and candles inside. The bridesmaid dresses were a nice soft neutral color which paired so nicely with Jenna’s beautiful dress, and Kevin even sprung for this incredible dark green suit – so cool! They had big Edison bulbs lighting their ceremony and reception outdoors on the patio, which made for some of the dreamiest dancing photos. Honestly some of my very favorite first dance photos EVER. We were also able to wander around the woods and hang out at tree houses, which I absolutely loved. They danced, they laughed, they had their siblings and parents make the most perfect speeches – mostly about Kevin taking his shirt off at family functions. I love getting to come hang out with old friends on such an important day, and I love it even more when I get to see how happy they are. Jenna and Kevin, you two are amazing, and I can’t wait to wish you a happy anniversary for years and years and years to come. Now go look at some of these gorgeous pictures!!!

  • Brooklyn Arts Center Wedding Photography | Jordan & Bo

Sometimes you get lucky and you move to a new state and you don’t know a single person and you end up making friends with your photography clients. Sometimes you REALLY luck out and they turn into some of your best friends. That’s what happened with Jordan and Bo. These two are so fun and lighthearted and just an absolute blast to be around. Their love story is sweet, their relationship is so calm and trusting and comfortable, and I really believe they were meant to find each other in this crazy world.

We spent the day laughing and singing and, okay, maybe sweating a little. Their wedding was held at the Brooklyn Arts Center in downtown Wilmington, in the big beautiful brick building with the tallest ceilings and the most gorgeous architecture. They decorated it and made it their own space, with sweet pops of summer colors. I really love photographing weddings for your close friends, because it doesn’t feel like I’m working at all. I had strict instructions to put my camera away at one point, and I even remember snapping a few after I was done (because I can’t help it and I’m addicted to my camera) and Jordan yelling at me to go get a drink instead. If that doesn’t make you feel right at home, then I don’t know what does! Thank you to both of you for having me capture these memories for years and years to come, I can’t wait to watch you two grow together.

Life is ever changing but I will always
find a constant and comfort in your love
With your heart my soul is bound
And as we dance I know that heaven can be found
