  • Wilmington NC Wedding & Travel Photographer | Best of 2016

What a year it has been! I’ve moved from Ohio to North Carolina, got a sweet and fluffy puppy, I made a ton of new friends, explored Italy and eaten more gelato than anyone should probably eat in a lifetime, relaxed on multiple beaches, shopped in Charleston (I ate some more gelato there), hiked part of the Appalachian Trail in Virginia, and taken way too many photos. I’ve been lucky enough to have gotten multiple weddings published this year, and I plan to continue that trend. I’ve loved every minute of 2016, cheers to an even better 2017. I already know it’s going to be great. Here are a few of my favorite images from this year.

    xoxo, Allison

  • The Atrium Wedding Photography | Ashley & Clay

I’ve had Ashley & Clay’s wedding booked for awhile now, and I had seriously been counting down the days after learning about their venue choice at the Atrium in downtown Wilmington. It’s a beautiful spot with open ceilings and tall ivy covered walls and endless twinkle lights, which provided for one of my favorite backdrops I’ve ever experienced. Literally, I want to get married here. After a sweet ceremony with talks of dinosaurs falling in love, a reception full of delicious southern food, glow sticks, a totally unplanned fireworks show followed. Their fall decor was stunning, I’m still dreaming about the burgundy and gold details surrounded by all the greenery. They ended the night by being whisked away on a pedicab to their downtown hotel! What a night to remember. I’m thankful for such amazing couples like this one! Check out the highlights of their day.

  • The Barn at Rock Creek Wedding Photography | Caitlin & Michael

Calling this wedding a blast wouldn’t even begin to describe the night I had with Caitlin and Michael. This was one of the most epic dance parties I’ve ever experienced, including Caitlin being hoisted into the air by her friends multiple times. They had incredible, hand picked details, gorgeous floral centerpieces, one of the most colorful fall ceremonies, and so much love it had me smiling the whole time I worked on these photos. They have such a fun kind of love, you can’t help but want to be around them! They danced, they laughed, and they even let me take them into the woods for some gorgeous photos as the sun set and the super moon came out. I love to be a part of weddings that are filled with so much joy, and this one exceeded all expectations! Congrats to the happy couple, now check out the highlights from their big day!

  • The Loft on Front Downtown Wilmington Wedding Photography | Cat & Matt

Of course a persons wedding day is inevitably one of the happiest days of their lives, but as I walked into the Loft on Front Street in downtown Wilmington to snag some photos of Cat getting ready, all of her friends and her mother started to tell me the story of Cat and Matt. It was long and complicated and very, very romantic. I’m not even sure the word “happy” can cover it. Catherine beamed from ear to ear the entire day, and Matt, if possible, had an ever bigger smile. He couldn’t help but actually shout while we walked around for photos downtown, “I JUST MARRIED THIS GIRL!” It’s inspiring to be around two people who have so much love for one another that it fills an entire room. I only hope that everyone has a chance to feel what Cat and Matt feel for each other. With a beautiful bright ceremony at the Kenan Chapel in Landfall, and an intimate reception at the Loft on Front Street, these two had an evening they’ll never forget.

  • Watermark Marina Wedding Photography | Mary & Ben

See the published article about this wedding on Wedding Wire HERE.

Mary and Ben are a couple I’ve been lucky enough to get to know as I’ve made myself a new home here in Wilmington. They were one of my first couples to take a chance on me, and one of the first that I photographed here. Not only did they take me by boat to Masonboro Island for their engagement session, but they also won me over with their incredibly fun and laid back personalities. They’ve made me feel so much more like a friend than someone they simply hired to be at their wedding.

These two had a beautiful ceremony on the end of a pier at the Watermark Marina, surrounded by a bright yellow sunset, family, friends, and everyone that cares about them the most. Their reception was just a walk back down the pier, with an indoor/outdoor seating area and all the twinkle lights my little heart could hope for. The dinner was an elaborate taco bar, followed by SO MANY DONUTS. Some of my favorite wedding food ever, might I add. The drinks flowed, the dancing never stopped, and the love and laughter was everywhere. Thank you for a wonderful evening, Mary and Ben, and I can’t wait to watch your marriage grow :) now check out the highlights of their big day!!

  • Ocean Isle Beach House Wedding Photography | Alison & Matt

Matt and Alison are one of those couples who make you feel right at home. I knew when I met them for the first time (in a bar in downtown Pittsburg, filling our glasses with bottomless mimosas before their engagement session) that we would turn out to be friends. They made me feel like more of a guest than just one of the vendors at their beautiful beachside wedding. They invited me to come hang out with them at the beach house the day before the wedding too, specifically asking me to leave my camera at home. Nothing quite makes you feel like part of the family after spending an evening with everyone before the big day.

Alison and Matt had their ceremony on the beach in front of their giant beach house on Ocean Isle Beach, NC. This place was gorgeous. The perfect weather anyone could ever ask for in October, just two short weeks after Hurricane Matthew came through… talk about good timing. The reception that followed took place on the pool deck of the beach house, which provided for some of the most incredible first dance photos as the sun set over the water. Spending the day with them is nothing short of magical, the way these two just BEAM at each other, I swear I hardly even posed them for their photos, they’re just naturally so good together. I’m thankful to know Alison and Matt, and I think everyone who attended their wedding feels the exact same way. You guys deserve a lifetime of days as magical as this one.
