  • Ocean Isle Beach Wedding Photographer | Shelby & Cody

Ocean Isle Beach is a popular wedding destination location because 1) it’s gorgeous, obviously 2) it’s a bit more affordable than Wrightsville Beach 3) you can rent out a GIANT beach house to host your wedding day but also let 40-something people all stay in the same house. I truly love a beach house wedding. There’s something so laid back about it, it feels less strict and formal, and staying with all your favorite people in one giant house is pretty fun. You can kind of keep your party going until you’re ready for bed. These parties often end with everyone jumping in the pool, too, my personal favorite.

Shelby and Cody had a beautiful September day for their wedding. These two had been together forever, but were FINALLY making it official official. I didn’t get the chance to actually meet them before the wedding because they live in Ohio (my home state!) and just WOW. When I did meet them, it was like we were best friends our whole lives. These two have a way of welcoming you in like you’ve always known each other, and their family and friends were no different. I had such a good time with everyone, and my favorite part was obviously when we all started scream-singing some of our classic favorite emo songs on the pool deck, dancing the night away. You know it’s a good night when it ends in all the kids running around in their underwear LOL. Thank you thank you thank you to Shelby and Cody for being the most amazing humans ever and for finding me online and choosing me to document your day. I wish every wedding day was like this one!

  • Kindred Events Carolina Beach Wedding Photographer | Tara & Brian

Carolina Beach in Wilmington, North Carolina has this GORGEOUS new(ish) venue. It was my first time working there for Tara and Brian’s wedding, and I am now a BIG fan. The space itself is gorgeous – beautiful clean white walls, tall ceilings, lots of natural light. The location is perfect, only about a two block walk to the beach and the boardwalk at Carolina Beach (even easier to get to if you have a golf cart). And here’s the best part – one of the biggest struggles for a wedding at the beach is parking. Kindred has its OWN PARKING LOT. I know that doesn’t sound exciting, but it’s truly a rarity. So that alone was a huge perk. The outdoor space is stunning for cocktail hour or walking around for portraits. It also has plenty of indoor space for super hot days, rainy days, or winter time.

Tara and Brian were an absolute pleasure to be around. Tara had this joy radiating from her, it was impossible to be near her and not be smiling. They were THRILLED to be marrying each other, and their family and friends were so happy to be part of it and support these two. Grateful to get to work with people like these two! They also booked my 35mm film add-on so, scroll through to the end to see the film photos as well!!! CONGRATS TARA & BRIAN!!!! A lifetime of happiness for you both!

  • Airlie Gardens Wedding Photographer | Stephanie & Kyle

Stephanie and Kyle chose Airlie Gardens as the perfect location for their small elopement. It was just them, their kids, their officiant (who just so happened to be Kyle’s dad), and Stephanie’s best friend as a witness. I LOVE an elopement. It’s so full of joy, it’s so easy going, we’re not in a rush, we have all the time in the world to snap photos and enjoy the moment without the pressure of 200 people waiting on us with a strict timeline and a million vendors. I loved being part of their day. And I LOVE working at Airlie Gardens. It’s my favorite spot in Wilmington to photograph. Check out some of my favorite moments from their wedding day!

  • The Atrium Wedding Photographers | Alexandra & Phil

Where do I even begin about this wedding day!?!?!? So Alexandra and Phil, two of the most amazing people I’ve literally ever known, chose the beautifulllllllll Atrium as their wedding venue. It’s located in downtown Wilmington and it is a little secret garden nestled in between the hustle and bustle of downtown. This is one of my favorite venues, and it was even better being there with these two. I’ve known Alexandra since… I don’t even know… 2017?! We used to bartend weddings together back in the day, we bought our first houses at the same time, basically, we go way back. My favorite story to tell is that I accidentally crashed Alexandra and Phil’s first date, too. I ran into them and didn’t realize it was a first date and I loved him for her right away. Turns out, years later, their love story wasn’t over. I’ve gotten to watch them grow together, and nothing could possibly make me happier than being able to document their wedding day. They also chose to do 50/50 film and digital photos for their wedding, which was SO much fun for me. I shot 6 rolls of film that day, and I wish I got to do that at every wedding! Okay. I’ll stop gushing. Please enjoy the highlights of their wedding day and scroll to the end for some film!!!!!!! Ahhhhhh I love their love.

  • Masonboro Island Elopement Photographer | Miranda & Matt

Miranda and Matt chose Wilmington, North Carolina as the location for their elopement purely because they wanted a beautiful location, with just the two of them and their two best friends. They got a private boat charter (shoutout to the INCREDIBLE Airlie Pointe Yacht Charters), they drove down here, and then, of course, because things can’t just go as planned, Wilmington got a surprise hurricane. By the day of their wedding, they decided to just totally risk it, and continue on with their plan, and our amazing captain, Tyler, was the best guide. He watched the radar and made sure we were safe, and worked around the weather as best he could to navigate us safely to Masonboro Island. The good thing about having a wedding ceremony during a hurricane on a private island? NOBODY else is around, so you get the whole island to yourself. And just when we were about to give up hope of getting off the boat and making it to the island, the rain disappeared, and gave us a stunning sunset. We got out to the island and just went photo crazy, and the vibes were just……… insane. I’m so lucky to get to work such gorgeous days, with adventurous couples, who aren’t afraid to get a little bit wet, to get the epic shots. Congrats Miranda and Matt!!!!!!

  • Airlie Gardens & The Elia Wedding Photographer | Olivia & Sean

Well I’m a little behind on my blog posts since I went away to the UK – but I’ve been SO excited to share this wedding. Olivia and Sean chose Airlie Gardens to host their wedding ceremony, and they even risked the hurricane that decided to show up on their wedding weekend and not cancel the plan for their outdoor ceremony, and I’m so glad they went with their gut, because it passed quickly and we were able to continue outside as planned!! Airlie Gardens is simply stunning – lush greenery, the draping Spanish Moss on all the trees, the massive historic oak trees. You genuinely cannot take a bad photo at Airlie Gardens. After the ceremony, we headed back to The Elia in downtown Wilmington for their reception, which was a welcomed air conditioning hug after the summer sunshine! Seriously – I highly recommend an indoor reception for summer weddings in Wilmington! The Elia is still one of our newest venues in Wilmington, and it’s easily made my top favorites for a reason. The building itself is stunning, with gorgeous lighting inside (a photographer loves this), brick walls, open concept layout, a BEAUTIFUL bar which not only serves your guest delicious drinks but make for a great photo backdrop, a great location to walk to the river for portraits, and the freedom to transform it into whatever your heart desires! My favorite part about using both of those locations is that we were able to get portraits both downtown and at Airlie – an opportunity for two unique photo locations that most people don’t get all on one day! I LOVED having both tropical and downtown backdrops!

Olivia and Sean are two people who make you feel instantly comfortable and welcome in their presence, and their love for each other was incredibly easy to capture on camera. I loved how caring they were towards each other and I loved the words that their family members spoke about them in their speeches. I loved their decor, their taste in music, the live band, honestly this day was such a VIBE. I can’t say it enough, but I am forever grateful to get to work with clients like these two who just make me feel like one of their guests and friends all day long. CONGRATS OLIVIA AND SEAN!!!! I cannot wait to see what comes next in your story!

  • Greenfield Lake Elopement Photographer | Lindsey & Maria

Lindsey and Maria decided to elope out on the West Coast, but wanted to also incorporate Wilmington (where they live) into their wedding photos! I LOVE love love love love getting to do elopement photography, we have no timeline, we are in no rush, we are able to do multiple locations, and no one is waiting on us to get back for dinner to start! Lindsey and Maria were just absolutely LOVELY to work with, and their love was literally so easy to capture. Thank you two for walking around Greenfield Lake and Downtown Wilmington with me, for gator hunting, and for being so fun and kind! Now check out a few of my favorites!!

  • Brooklyn Arts Center Wedding Photographers | Avery & Mitch

When I look back at Avery and Mitchโ€™s wedding this past July at the Brooklyn Arts Center in Wilmington, North Carolina, I canโ€™t help but smile. As a full time wedding photographer, Iโ€™m fortunate to witness so many beautiful moments, but their day felt especially magicalโ€”whimsical, dreamy, and romantic, all wrapped up in one perfect package.

The Brooklyn Arts Center was the ideal backdrop for Avery and Mitchโ€™s vision. The venueโ€™s charm and character blended seamlessly with their aesthetic, creating an atmosphere that felt both enchanting and intimate and held space for all of their very personal and well thought out details (and so much hand-made by the bride herself!). The soft, golden light of July kissed every surface with a gentle glow, making the space feel like a dreamscape.

Avery looked like a vision straight out of a fairytale. The floral arrangements were lush and overflowing, a delightful mix of pastels and vibrant blooms that added to the dreamy ambiance. Mitch, ever the dashing groom, was the perfect counterpoint in his tailored suit, looking every bit the part of the romantic hero in this story. Especially when he gave a short speech at the reception, letting his emotions out for everyone to witness, there weren’t a lot of dry eyes in the house.

The ceremony itself was a beautiful Catholic ceremony held at St Mary’s.ย Capturing their first kiss as a married couple was a highlight. And the reception? Oh, the reception. It was like stepping into a whimsical wonderland – I quite literally screamed out loud when I walked into the room for the first time, and I squealed that I felt like I was in Alice in Wonderland. String lights twinkled from above, and the tables were adorned with vintage-inspired decor that added a touch of romance to the already magical setting.

Of course one of my favorite aspects of the day was that Avery & Mitch chose to add-on my 35mm film photo package, which includes film in your wedding day photos! This added a special touch and really went so well with their decor and general vibe of the day!

As the night wound down and the last of the guests trickled out, I couldnโ€™t help but feel grateful. Avery and Mitchโ€™s wedding was more than just a day; it was an experience, a celebration of love that I was lucky enough to be a part of. It was whimsical, dreamy, and utterly romanticโ€”just like their love story. And what a perfect way to end the night with a confetti exit (biodegradable!) which was AMAZING and so unique. Grateful for these two, and I can’t wait to watch what’s next in their journey together!

  • Crystal Coast Country Club Wedding Photographers | Mattie & Griffin

As a wedding photographer based in Wilmington, North Carolina, I’ve had the privilege of documenting love stories in some of the most picturesque corners of the state. However, Mattie and Griffin’s wedding at the Crystal Coast Country Club in Pine Knoll Shores stands out as a day filled with unexpected charm and unforgettable moments.

The sun danced lazily over the shimmering waters of Bogue Sound as I arrived at the venue, greeted by the salty breeze and the quiet anticipation that hangs in the air before a wedding. Nervous excitement all around. The Crystal Coast Country Club, with its elegant coastal decor and sweeping views, was the perfect backdrop for Mattie and Griffin’s celebration of love. I mean – I couldn’t have painted a better backdrop myself.

Mattie, GORGEOUSSSS in her classic gown that seemed to go perfectly with the soft waves nearby, and Griffin, dashing in his suit (and yes there WAS an outfit change later – honestly love when a groom does an outfit change) under the Carolina sky, exchanged vows in a heartfelt ceremony that resonated with sincerity and joy, and I promise, a lot of happy tears. As a photographer, capturing those genuine smiles and tender glances is what fuels my passion, and Mattie and Griffin made it effortless. Their love was so big, and it truly stood out to me. Another thing that I’m SO HAPPY they booked, was my 35mm film package! Couples who love this offering are my kind of couples. There’s something so unique about film that can’t be replicated in digital photographs. When Mattie specifically used the words “cinematic” when we were posing them at sunset, my insides screamed in happiness. She gets me. LOL.

One of the most memorable and might I say hilarious parts of the day unfolded during their reception. The bridesmaids brought out a surprise… Temporary tattoos adorned with Griffin’s face appeared mysteriously, and soon enough, everyone on the dance floor wore a cheeky grin and a miniature likeness of the groom.

As the evening progressed, beneath the stars and the gentle glow of lights, it became clear that Mattie and Griffin’s wedding wasn’t just about two people coming together in love; it was about celebrating the unique bond they shared with their community. Every guest, from grandparents to childhood friends, contributed to the tapestry of stories that made this day so special. The speeches were so personal and you could tell how much these two are loved by their people.

Reflecting on their wedding day, I’m reminded of the privilege and responsibility of being a wedding photographerโ€”to freeze time in moments of pure happiness, to tell a story that transcends words, and to capture the essence of love in its many forms. Mattie and Griffin’s wedding at the Crystal Coast Country Club was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and the beauty of little momentsโ€”like dancing with the groom’s face temporarily tattooed on your armโ€”that make each wedding day uniquely magical. Shout out to these two for being so easy to work with, and CONGRATS and CHEERS to many many many many years of happiness ahead!

  • Airlie Gardens Wedding & Elopement Photographer | Hope & Eric

Love has a unique way of unfolding, sometimes taking unexpected turns that lead to beautiful new beginnings. Such is the story of Eric and Hope, who, after a decade of marriage, decided to mark their journey with a long-awaited celebration of their love at Airlie Gardens in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Airlie Gardens, known for its picturesque tropical-garden landscapes and serene ambiance, provided the perfect backdrop for Eric and Hope’s special day. The decision to have a wedding after ten years of marriage was not just about celebrating their enduring love, but also about creating cherished memories with their closest family members who had been witnesses to their journey together. So after they exchanged their vows and sealed it with a kiss, we were able to take some photos with their family, as well as walk around together for portraits of the two of them around the gardens. I love wedding days like this one, nice and intimate, simply there to celebrate their love for each other. Congrats to these two on finally having the ceremony they always wanted!
