This was my first wedding I got to photograph at Sycamore Bend – a newer venue in Wilmington in the Porter’s Neck/Ogden area! Who knew this huge farm property was sitting right in the middle of town!? It’s such a great setup. I discovered that you can even rent the houses on the property to stay in overnight with your wedding party or family or whoever! There’s a separate getting ready house, there’s the main house, there’s a secondary getting ready spot behind the main house. There’s a huge parking lot. There’s a huge barn. There’s so much space. Every corner is meticulously cared for and very photogenic. I got to visit once in the spring for Kathleen and Dallas’s engagement photos and I LOVED all the blooming hydrangeas in the spring, and then when it came to their wedding day (end of September) the flowers were definitely dying but like, they still looked amazing and texture-y and I’m not sure there’s a bad time of year to take photos here! So, I was very happy that I got to be here to document Kathleen and Dallas’s wedding day!

Kathleen and Dallas have such a long and very cute love story. They had the most fun, energetic, and supportive wedding party. Two them were even my friends, and I had no idea that they’d be there! BONUS! These two were just so easy to shower with love, because they were so easy to celebrate. So kind and welcoming, so happy to just be getting married to each other. I had the best day with them. And one of my favorite little highlights from the day was when they incorporated a bunch of old school emo jams into their dance party time – I may or may not have been on the dance floor with them scream-singing the entire time. Another fun thing that I’ve never seen before: they custom made these candles to sit on the tables at the reception literally made out of butter. So when they were lit, it melted the butter, and the guests could dip their bread into them. And THEN my other other favorite part: they did a SMOKE BOMB entrance into the reception!!!! I’m SO glad I got to be a part of your special day, Kathleen and Dallas! Thank you for being so fun to be around, so easy to love, and for throwing one heck of a party. Special shout out to the Donut bus!!!!! A school bus food truck with freshly made donuts for your wedding day? Say less.
